Torsk

Nordatlantens konge

I Portugal kalder de mig bacalhau, og saltet torsk er en meget almindelig ret i hele landet. Det portugisiske folk har tilberedt mig sådan siden 1497, da de først ankom til Nordamerika. Ved at salte torsken løste de et af de mest seriøse problemer ved lange rejser til søs –  nemlig konservering af mad på turen.
