The night predator
I have a huge appetite and large, sharp teeth. Since I’m a night predator, I stay in deep water during the day and swim up to the surface to feed at night.

What I eat
It depends on my age. Younger hake eat medium-sized fish and cephalopods like squids, while adults show cannibalistic behavior.
Where I’m from
Mediterranean Sea, North Sea and Eastern Atlantic Ocean between Iceland and Mauritania.
Mature size
At least 30 cm.
How you can help
Buy me if I’m MSC-certified from the North Atlantic. Don’t buy me if I’m trawler caught or from the Mediterranean, where I’m overfished.
